Not perfect, but very good boots, October 29, 2010 - By  Ryan Winkleman (CA)       , so the boots are not too high and not shallow either. I am a professional biologist, so these get some pretty good use when I do my field work, and it isn't unusual for me to put extra strain on them by walking on a lot of rocks in streams or by doing slope-walking, either up and down or sideways so that a lot of my weight is getting put on the sides. I've had them for about a year and a half now and in July this year I did have to have them repaired due to small breaks in the stitching on the sides of both boots. Tears that only cost me $5-8 each to fix, they were so minor. Other than that I have had no issues with their durability. One problem I do have is that they loosen up fairly easily. I will probably have to tighten my laces again once an hour or so because they just loosen up at the tongue, although never to the point where it's actually uncomfortable to wear them.My bottom line: these are very good boots that are really comfortable and in a line of business where I am outside a lot and doing a lot of hiking in streambeds and on uneven terrain, they have so far passed the test. On a recent project I just came off of, both an archaeologist and a construction worker had these exact same boots on and both agreed that they are great, comfortable boots and the only way to go. If you don't mind the possibility that you may have to occasionally re-tighten them as you walk around a lot, they are great buys.Edit 4/3/11: I highly recommend the Yankz! elastic laces for these boots if you have the same problem with them becoming loose that I did. I have found these to be an invaluable solution to the problem.
